Hello!

So after 3 consecutive days of complete rabidness, 986 miles of drive with only 1 replete night's sleep to speak of among the 4 of us, we made it back home in one slice! But we're straight back to work... recording a brand new track for the debut CARNEY track record slated for release in early '09! We had a shoot documenting our excursion to and through the first-class honours degree annual Outside Lands Festival, in which we had the distinct honor of being the very first-class honours degree band to perform!

We'd like to thank all of you who've been following our every move these past few years, and promise that you won't be strangers from here on out :) And if you're ever in Los Angeles on a Wednesday night, you potty come regain us at the historic Troubadour, where we kick off our residency on Wednesday, September 3rd!It's been a delight sharing our experiences with you this week.

We'll leave you with this bit of wisdom:Find what it is that you love... and do it as if naught else in this domain matters... And you'll ne'er have to work a day in your life.

We hope that makes sense to someone out in that location! Keep on Rockin' in the release world! And if you live in China... well... keep on rockin' anyway!

From all of us at CARNEY, Goodnight and Good chance.

Named for either the Smiths call or a cable from Kerouac's The Dharma Bums, Seattle, WA's Pretty Girls Make Graves began touring the area solely months after the Murder City Devils, which Derek Fudesco as well played bass in, called it quits. During the summer of 2001, Fudesco started writing songs with friends Andrea Zollo (whom he played with in Death Wish Kids), ex-Bee Hive Vaults members Nathen Johnson and Nick DeWitt, summation Kill Sadie's Jason Clark. Their first tone ending, a self-titled, four-song EP replete of bursts of energy and emotion released on Dim Mak, created sufficiency interest to dry land them a pip in the AP's "one C Bands You Need to Know in '02." In April 2002, Good Health came out on Lookout! Records. Miming the like energies as the EP, but in nine-spot songs and 27 proceedings, the full-length combined early Fugazi and a bit of Rocket from the Crypt, but made new. Add X-Ray Spex and Avengers influences conjugate by backup vocals and a hard-hitting calendar method of nativity control section, and it's easy to understand where they're approach from. Zollo resists critics' comparisons to Sleater-Kinney or Bikini Kill, because in fact, Pretty Girls Make Graves sounds nada like either mathematical group. Following the handout of Good Health, the band jumped to Matador, releasing the This Is Our Emergency single in belated 2003 and the full-length New Romance in brief subsequently. The band congeal off on tours with the likes of Death Cab for Cutie, Bloc Party, and Franz Ferdinand, and afterwards adding keyboardist Leona Marrs to the lineup, released Élan Vital in early 2006. A year later -- and after a lowest round of spring touring -- Pretty Girls Make Graves dissolved, as drummer DeWitt dead soul and the set did not desire to go forward on without him.

Massachusetts House Approves Bill To Raise $89M From Insurers, Health Care Providers

The Massachusetts House on Tuesday voted 135-21 to approve a bill that would need insurance companies and health care providers in the state to contribute more money to close a funding spread in the state's health insurance law, the AP/Boston Globe reports. The billhook would generate $89 gazillion. A proposal by Gov. Deval Patrick (D) to raise an additional $33 million by increasing contributions from businesses was eliminated from the measure. Patrick had proposed closing a loophole that allowed companies with more than 10 workers or without employer-based insurance coverage to avoid paying an annual penalty of $295 per proletarian, according to the AP/Globe.

House Speaker Salvatore DiMasi (D) in a statement aforementioned that "modest changes" to the measure would allow the natural law to carry on and create the right balance betwixt state and private-sector liaison. The constabulary has expanded coverage to about 340,000 residents since it was enacted in April 2006, but rising costs have forced state officials to leaven premiums and seek new sources of revenue, the AP/Globe reports.

Kyle Sullivan, a representative for Patrick, said the governor soundless has the authority to make regulative changes to increase patronage contributions, simply he did not say whether Patrick would do that. The bill now moves to the Senate (Johnson, AP/Boston Globe, 7/29).

Boston triumphs despite loss of Delp

It was a night of overcoming handicaps.

The big question close to Bostons summer tour is how the FM favorites would become by without late vocaliser Brad Delp. And while theres sure as shooting no replacement him, it seems the current card is doing just fine.

Despite Sunday nights gig at the Comcast Center in Mansfield organism the groups homecoming show up, a blizzard of recent and soon-to-come big-name events in ithiel Town stole some of the groups thunder: Boston only nearly filled the covered portion of the locus, leaving the lawn barren.

But for those in attending, it was time and money well-spent. True, a valid argument could be made that watching Boston perform at present feels like seeing a cover band - simply with founder Tom Scholz on board, this is as real as its going to get. Dont like it? You dont have to come. And the truth is, youd be missing a merriment show.

After an instrumental rendition of The Star-Spangled Banner for openers, Scholz and company kicked into I Had a Good Time from 2002s Corporate America, then dusted off the trusty Peace of Mind.

Albeit a little stiff-seeming, longtime fan and Home Depot recruit Tommy DeCarlo did a phenomenal job on vocals, consistently nailing the money notes and invocation an preternatural likeness to Delps overall style and tone.

In special, Feelin Satisfied and Dont Look Back soared skyward with heavyset, rich, six-part harmonies buoyed by five-string bassist Kimberly Dahme, drummer Jeff Neal and longtime guitarist Gary Pihl pitching in on the choruses.

Stryper frontman Michael Sweet also turned in an impressive performance. Sweet served up powerful lead vocals on two tunes from 1986s Third Stage: Amanda and To Be a Man, the latter dedicated to Delp. With Scholz, Sweet and Pihl on the front line, the guitar work was nimble-fingered and top-notch throughout. Sweet as well did vocal justice to Foreplay/Long Time, with Scholz wailing along on the organ, which he as well played during the encore, Smokin, a barroom natural.

Boston overcame its handicap sooner miraculously, only Styx didnt fare quite as well: Tommy Shaws laryngitis cost them, in particular on a wretched Too Much Time On My Hands.

Instrumentally, Styx sounded tight. Original member/bassist Chuck Panozzo turned up to bring extra bottom end, and dueling axe men Shaw and James Young worked up a near-deafening lather. Keyboard whizz Lawrence Gowan killed on lead vocals for Lady and Come Sail Away, though he really ought to lose the empty-headed revolving synth platform.

BOSTON, with STYX at the Comcast Center, Mansfield, Sunday night.

Brook and Zane 'taking things slowly'

Kelly Brook and Hollywood star Billy Zane are reportedly set to "take things slowly" following their surprise reunion last week.
The couple were reported to have called-off their engagement earlier this month amid reports that Brook was not yet ready to marry.
However the couple are now back together and both attended the world premiere of 'Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull' at Cannes last night.
Yesterday, the Sunday Mirror reported that Zane sparked the break-up by admitting that he was not ready to marry and have children with Brook.
However, he has since announced that he does want to marry Brook after all, amid reports that she is no longer so keen.
A source told the Sunday Mirror: "Billy has told Kelly they should go ahead with their wedding plans, but Kelly has said 'no' - for the moment anyway.
"She says Billy had made up his mind that he didn't want to get married, and so it doesn't feel right to just suddenly get married after all. Kelly won't wear her engagement ring and is not organising a wedding."

Gym Class Heroes' Travis McCoy Arrested After Reacting To Racial Slur From Crowd Member

On Tuesday, at the Maryland Heights, Missouri, stop of this summer's Warped Tour, Gym Class Heroes lead singer Travis McCoy was arrested and charged with third-degree assault after he allegedly struck a member of the audience in the head with his microphone. McCoy was released Wednesday morning (July 2) on $500 bond, and there's no word yet on when he'll have to return to the municipality to answer to the charge.

According to police spokesman Sgt. Joseph Eagan, the department does not release the names of those arrested until they are formally charged by the local prosecutor's office. But Eagan did confirm that "there was an incident last evening with a band called Gym Class Heroes, and that we did make an arrest." Eagan said "there was an altercation between one of the artists and one of the patrons, and the person arrested was booked on assault, posted bond and was released."

Eagan did confirm that the incident was racially motivated, but added that the alleged victim "and the artist are of the same race."

"There were words exchanged, and the artist took offense to something that was said to him," Eagan said. "The complainant alleged that he was struck, and we're waiting for it to go to the prosecuting attorney."

Eagan declined to provide further details, but according to Rolling Stone, the audience member near the front row called McCoy a "f---ing ignorant n---er." McCoy reportedly responded by asking the man to repeat what he'd said as security personnel attempted to remove him from the venue. McCoy then reportedly reached down and struck the man in the head with his microphone.

The band's manager, Bob McLynn, released a statement Wednesday afternoon that reads: "Somebody in the crowd was taunting Travis with racial slurs. Travis invited him onstage with the intent of calling him out in front of the crowd, with absolutely no intention of a physical altercation. When he tried to help him onstage, the guy hit Travis in the knee area (which has been in a brace because of a recent sprain), forcing Travis to defend himself. At this point, a scuffle broke out.

"This whole incident is unfortunate," the statement continues. "Travis McCoy and Gym Class Heroes are anything but violent. Their message is about racial unity and having a good time. It's amazing that in 2008, there are still people out there that would say such ignorant things. Travis is deeply upset that this happened, and has expressed his apologies to the band's fans that were at the show, [tour organizer] Kevin Lyman, and the Vans Warped Tour. GCH is putting this behind them and looks forward to seeing everyone on the rest of the tour."

One of the well-nigh of import figures in early ragga and dancehall, Tenor Saw (natural Clive Bright, 1966, Kingston, Jamaica) is best-known for his 1985 strike "Ring the Alarm," a song dynasty based on the then-ubiquitous "Stalag 17" rhythm which proved to be one of the biggest -- and catchiest -- hits to come out of reggae's transition into the electronic age. Tenor Saw followed it up with Fever, an LP that -- patch it didn't check his key signature song -- proven to be a minor hellenic of early dancehall, full of uncomplicated, catchy melodies, synthesized rhythm section parts, and Tenor Saw's floating vocals. (The CD reissue of Fever too appended dub versions of most of the original tracks.) With such a promising start to his vocation, it seemed Tenor Saw would be around for rather a long time; sadly, his life was cut little in August 1988, when he was hit by a motorcar in Houston, TX, and killed. The album Wake the Town was released posthumously in 1992.

Angelina Jolie - Jolie And Pitt Have Not Sold House

ANGELINA JOLIE and BRAD PITT have denied rumours they have sold their New Orleans, Louisiana mansion.

Recent reports suggested the couple had offloaded the house they bought in January 2007, and have lived in while working with those left homeless by Hurricane Katrina.

But Trevor Neilson, a spokesperson for the couple's charity the Jolie-Pitt Foundation, tells NOLA.com, "This rumour going around that they've sold or are selling their house in New Orleans is not true. "It's just made up, as are a lot of things that are said about them."

The virtually producer-driven dissemble in the Japanese pop bowel movement known as Shibuya-kei, Fantastic Plastic Machine was formed by Tomoyuki Tanaka. Though he has the basic stylistic tastes necessity of the Shibuya-kei creative person (that is to say couch music, bossa nova, French pop and soft rock candy), Tanaka has more than of a order mentality, determined by his long experience as a DJ. Born in Kyoto, he entered the euphony business in the late '80s as a bassist for a ten-piece trad-rock dance orchestra known as Margarine Strikes Back. Absorbed into dance medicine and the acid-house social movement near the turn of the ten, he formed a DJ squad called Sound Impossible and began spinning a mix of French and Brazilian pop, soundtrack music, and exotica. At one Sound Impossible demo, longtime Deee-Lite turntablist Towa Tei positive Tomoyuki Tanaka to start recording again, and Fantastic Plastic Machine was born. Tanaka contributed tracks to deuce compilations (Sushi 3003, Fish Smell Like Cat) and remixed Combustible Edison before signing to Pizzicato Five's Readymade Records. His self-titled debut record album was released in 1998, and distributed in America by Emperor Norton. Luxury followed unitary twelvemonth later; Beautiful and Claim Me to the Disco appeared in early 2001.
